The Freed of London MLB Junior is a beautifully simple boys' Ballroom shoe designed for young dancers progressing through lessons, medal work and competition. Smooth black leather and a traditional lace-up silhouette give it the smart, polished appearance expected from classic boys' Ballroom footwear.
Underneath that formal look is a very practical young dancer's shoe: a low ¾-inch heel keeps the foot grounded, the full suede sole provides traditional dance-floor response, and comfort lining with cushioned insole padding helps make longer lessons and competition days easier on growing feet.
Classic Ballroom Style for Young Dancers
MLB Junior deliberately keeps things traditional. The smooth black leather upper, black laces and neat binding around the topline create a clean formal silhouette without unnecessary decoration – ideal when the shoe needs to complement rather than compete with a Ballroom outfit.
The lace-up front allows the shoe to be adjusted securely around the foot, while the low-profile construction keeps the overall look neat and age appropriate.

This may sit inside our men's shoe collection, but we see MLB Junior primarily as a young dancer's Ballroom shoe.
The low heel, traditional full sole and clean black styling make far more sense when viewed as a progression shoe for boys moving through Ballroom training and competition.

Overall Fit
MLB Junior should feel comfortably secure around the foot, with the heel held in place and no significant forward-and-back movement inside the shoe.
Growing Feet
A small amount of sensible growing room can be considered for younger dancers, but avoid deliberately buying a significantly oversized Ballroom shoe. Control and stability still depend on the shoe moving with the foot.
Lace-Up Adjustment
Use the laces to secure the shoe evenly from the forefoot towards the instep. This gives considerably better control than simply tightening the top of the shoe.
Starting Size
MLB Junior is generally considered true to size, so begin with the young dancer's usual UK dance-shoe size rather than automatically sizing up.
